The Eliminate Project—Kiwanis and UNICEF have joined forces to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT). This deadly disease steals the lives of innocent babies and a significant number of women each year. MNT is easily prevented by giving women of childbearing age a series of three vaccine does, which cost roughly $1.80. Kiwanis International has raised $110 million which will protect at least 61 million women and their future babies. The Eliminate Project will also create a path for additional services, such as health education, clean water, nutrition, and other vaccines.
Kiwanis & UNICEF Joined Forces to End Iodine Deficiency’s Deadly Toll—During Kiwanis’ first global campaign for children, the Worldwide Service Project for IDD, members worked to virtually eliminate iodine deficiency disorders (IDD), the world’s leading preventable cause of mental retardation.
